How to create password-protected short links?

Password protection on short links adds an additional layer of security, ensuring that only authorized individuals can access the linked content. This is particularly crucial for sharing confidential documents, private messages, or restricted resources.

Using the password protection feature on IDM URL shortener, you can make your link secure and share the password with authorized personal only to give access of the encrypted short link.

Note: The password protection feature is available in Pro and higher plans only

Follow these steps to create password-protected short links:

  1. Create a Short link
  2. Enter the destination URL
  3. Click on the password protection option and specify your password

When someone clicks on a password-protected short link, they will see an authentication screen as in screenshot below.

This will prompts the user to enter the password associated with the short link.

Upon successful authentication, the user is redirected to the original destination URL associated with the short link.

This ensures that users who have the correct password can access the intended content . If the password is incorrect or authentication fails, and IDM will display an error message or prompt the user to try again.

You can enhance user experience by including a pw query parameter in the short link, enabling automatic authentication and redirection to the destination URL.
